Installing Ricochet is easy.

Ricochet films are easy to install. If, however, you are familiar with other protective films on the market, you will notice several differences in handling our material. Ricochet should be cut to approximately the desired size, then placed on the substrate (surface) and trimmed to fit by scoring the film after installation. Note that only the waste edges should be handled after removing the paper backing, as fingerprints will be left on the adhesive.

A light spray of positioning fluid will help with larger installations; press the material into place starting in the middle, working toward the outside edges. Use of a squeegee will help push out excess fluid. Any small puddles left will evaporate through the vinyl as the film cures. Please also note that a light spray of squeegee fluid on the surface of the vinyl will help avoid any marks or scratches being left by the squeegee. When working on vehicles, to get the desired edge on the product, use a thin masking tape on the product, use a thin masking tape to tape the edge and score along the line. The excess film can then be peeled back (it will tear along the score line) to form your final edge.

It is very important to use one of the recommended positioning fluids. Although other films are commonly applied with a high concentration of isopropyl alcohol, using this fluid will react with Ricochet resulting in black spots on the film.

Flat Glass

Pull back the liner about six inches (15cm) from the top edge of the Ricochet to expose the adhesive. Lightly spray the pre-cleaned glass and the adhesive with the enclosed positioning fluid.
Holding the Ricochet by the top one inch, tack the top edge, so that the one inch used to hold it will be trimmed away and so that the material drapes down to cover the entire glass surface.
Spray some positioning fluid to lubricate the surafce. This will make the film easier to work with and protect against any marking from the squeegee.
Then, pulling down about 12 inches at a time in a herringbone pattern, push the moisture towards the edges.
At the edge soak-up the moisture in a cloth or paper towel. Edges are easily trimmed with a razor knife. The Ricochet does not need to be cut completely through, but can be scored and then torn along the score mark.
Any bubbles of air or moisture will evaporate through the film within a few weeks (this process will take less time in warmer temperatures or if the window is in direct sunlight). You may find cloudy patches - these will also disappear as the film cures. Clean the film with mild soap and water and use a UV vinyl conditioner at least twice a year to prolong the life of the film.
Is Ricochet protective film easy to install?
Ricochet can be installed dry or using a positioning fluid. With the aid of a heat gun, it will conform to gentle curves and indentations. Ricochet can also be scored without marking the substrate it is applied to.
